about
I am a food change free agent. With expertise in land, food, and farming systems and a desire to fortify initiatives that seek a better world and a better balance, I bring strengths in writing, editing, problem-solving, goal development, and organization to your project or initiative. I am passionate about imaginal change and want to move fluidly from project to project to better assist a multiplicity of project hatchings. With more than 10 years’ experience balancing food systems theory and practice, education and hands-on production, and a local and global focus, I bring extensive knowledge of the way America produces, uses, and wastes food, hoards and exhausts land, degrades soil and devalues farming and farm workers to my work as a consultant; and, I bring hopeful, clear-eyed determination, too.
My professional life has been a long, roving study of how land, food, and farming form the basis of the modern economy. After over a decade working within that system, I'm focused on how we change it. I once directed the food program at the Mountain School of Milton Academy in Vershire VT and, before that, the kitchen and culinary education at Cedar Circle Farm in East Thetford VT. I am a professional gardener and a certified compost operator, and I have a degree in whole foods nutrition and cooking and almost all of a masters in sustainable food systems. My formative professional training was working as a copyeditor for over a decade.
